Curated Homewares to Elevate the Everyday

Kentish Town Stores is an independent lifestyle store with a focus on hand-crafted wares soured direct from makers.

Specialising in contemporary ceramics, original prints & homewares - explore our collection of small-batch, handmade products to shop, love & collect.

Kentish Town Stores began as a community-led space—a gathering place for coffee, conversation and craft. Today, in its new home in Hampstead, the store continues that mission with a refined focus: bringing together the best of UK & international makers, celebrating the value of handmade objects in daily life.

Meet our Founder | Luci Noel

My path to founding Kentish Town Stores began with a deep appreciation for art—not just the act of making, but its pathway into people’s lives. I studied Fine Art at St Martins and quickly realised that while I wouldn’t be a practising artist, my passion lay in supporting those who were.

My real interests were in how the audience engaged with the work—becoming an extension of its narrative and allowing the work to live on beyond the hand of the artist. I explored this through my own practice but found myself drawn to the production of these spaces, the curation of exhibitions, and the role of connecting artists with audiences. This led me to work within several non-profit arts organisations and eventually to the Affordable Art Fair, where, as Fair Director, I collaborated with artists and galleries to bring contemporary art to new audiences, both in the UK and internationally.

Over the years, my love for craft and design took centre stage - an interest that was, at the time, somewhat at odds with the Fine Art world. I became drawn to the quiet power of handmade objects—the way the right cup or plate can shift an everyday moment into something more intentional, more considered. I believe in the importance of functional craft—objects that are not only beautiful but designed to be used and enjoyed. The warmth of a hand-thrown mug, the weight of a perfectly balanced bowl—these small interactions ground us in the present and connect us to the maker’s skill and creativity.

In 2018, I left the art fair world to create a new kind of space: a modern general store that championed independent makers and fostered a sense of community.

For five years, Kentish Town Stores was a home for coffee, conversation and craft. Now, in Hampstead, the focus is fully on handmade wares—one-of-a-kind ceramics, textiles, woodwork, glass, fine art prints and timeless pieces from sustainable global brands. Every item is sourced with care, always bought directly from the maker, ensuring they can continue their practice sustainably.

2025 marks an exciting new chapter, as we refresh and rebrand the store to reflect this evolution in focus. With a wider selection of craft disciplines, a growing community of makers and new opportunities for exhibitions and collaborations, the essence of Kentish Town Stores remains the same —championing craftsmanship and thoughtful design while evolving to meet the needs of our customers and makers alike. Expect a carefully curated space filled with tactile, design-led homewares, artistic fodder for the curious and considered pieces that elevate the everyday.

Kentish Town Stores is more than just a shop—it’s a place to discover, to collect and to celebrate the practice of everyday life.
